The National Staff comes together two times a year to meet. The first of those meetings is now called the Winter National Staff Meeting. It was held the weekend of February 7th and 8th. This year it was held just outside of Dallas, Texas at the Gaylord Texan Resort. For the Zone Reps, it is very much of a working weekend. The weekend starts on Friday afternoon with meetings that continue through to Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon is the actual National Staff Meeting. It is during this meeting that the Executive Council (EC) lays out its plans and initiatives for the coming year. Following the EC, all the National Committee Chairs are given a chance to present their goals and news for the upcoming year.
The Zone Reps also have a chance to bring many of the National Chairs into their meetings to give them a more in-depth report on their activities and plans for the upcoming year. This year we met with two new National Chairs. The first was Doug Atkinson who is now the National Sim Racing Chair. Doug has many great things planned for the year by expanding the PCA Sim Race program into the regions. Be sure to check out his link at https://pcasimracing.com. Live racing is done during the various series on Friday evenings. You can also check out previous races on Youtube.com. These races can be found by searching on “PCA Sim Racing”. Watching these races is just like watching a race on TV including commentators!
The Zone Reps also met with Rob Price. Rob is the National PCA Tire Rack Street Survival Coordinator. Rob is here to help implement the program into any region that would like to begin Tire Rack Street Survival programs. He has done many and brings a great wealth of knowledge and “how to” on putting on a successful program. To expand the program even more, the EC has changed the participation requirements for students to include 16 year olds with any valid state-issued learners permit or driver’s license on the day of the training. If your Region has an interest, you can contact me and I will put you in touch with Rob.
The second meeting of the year is held on the Sunday before Parade! This is the National Summer Members’ Meeting. Want to hear what’s happing on the National level, stop in on the meeting. All are invited and welcome. If you would like to find out more, drop me an email!
